Recent Redwood National Park vacation rental reviews

Our family of 7 came here during Spring break. This house was perfect for us! I wish we could've stayed longer. Communication was not great (maybe because of internet connection issues?) but that did not change anything. We slept so well in the house and took several pictures of beautiful sunsets and scenery while we were there. I hadn't been to Orick in 15 years and things have changed. Bring your own food as there is not 1 restaurant in town anymore, and the one small grocery store is poorly stocked and very expensive!! But Fern Canyon is so amazing and worth the trip! Our kids said it was their most favorite hike ever. This area is so remote but we love it!

We loved this beautiful house! There was plenty of room, the beds were comfortable, and the views were great. The hot tub was the perfect way to relax after long days of hiking in the redwoods. We wished that we had more time to fully take advantage of the fire pit, sauna, grill and other amenities!

On your trip, you’ll find a wide system of hiking, mountain biking, and drive-thru trails, picnic spots, abundant wildlife, and the park’s namesake redwood trees. These legendary redwood trees can live to be 2,000 years old and measure a staggering 300 feet in height.

Where is Redwood National Park?

The Redwood National Park spans 131,000 acres along California’s rugged northern coastline, from Crescent City near the Oregon border to Orick in Humboldt County. The park rests about a 6-hour drive from both San Francisco, California, and Portland, Oregon, making it a perfect weekend trip from either city.

Things to do near Redwood National Park

While your eyes search the treetops, don’t miss out on all the area’s wildlife closer to the ground, like elk, bears, black-tailed deer, salamanders, beavers, and sea lions by the coast. Grab your binoculars from March through April for whale-watching at Klamath River Overlook, or watch elk from a distance at Gold Bluffs Beach. Kids will especially enjoy exploring the tide pools by Crescent Beach Overlook.

Between hiking trails and picnics under the redwoods, there are fun attractions to see along the way. If you’re traveling with kids, make sure to check out the Trees of Mystery park in Klamath, which offers a fun Skywalk and gondola ride. For more in-town activities during your trip, plan a stay near Crescent City, where you’ll find more restaurants, stores, and an aquarium, as well as outdoor must-sees, like Pebble Beach and the Fern Waterfall.
