A Sweet Retreat was a wonderful place to stay on Smith Mountain Lake! The home was very clean - one of the cleanest places we have stayed and we have stayed in numerous vacation homes. The beds were comfy, there were plenty of bath towels, the kitchen was well stocked, and there were even travel bottles of shampoo and conditioner supplied. The bed pillows were huge, so if you prefer a flatter pillow you will want to bring your own. And while there was plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, hand soap, etc., we could not find any trash bags beyond what was in the trash cans so for sure bring more of those (we just forgot). We had trouble finding the boat launch key, but once it was found in the basket on the piece of furniture in the dining area, it was super convenient to use. We really enjoyed having a dock to use right in front of the home as well. We enjoyed peaceful mornings on the deck overlooking the lake. It is a very quiet community, at least in April. We would definitely consider renting this home again! One thing to note is that there is no local contact for issues that arise. We called the 800 number to get help finding the boat launch key, but they were of no help as they are just in a generic office somewhere. However, this wouldn't keep us from staying again.
